HIKING

This is the kind of hiking experience you can expect to have when you stay at one of our vacation cabins or guesthouses at New Mexico Cabin Rentals! For a relaxing stroll, feel free to walk about our 17 private acres where you can explore nearly along Bear Creek where more than 250 species of native and migratory birds have been documented by the Biological/Ornithological Research Department of the State of New Mexico.

BIRD WATCHING

Whether Spring or Winter, for passionate year round bird watching enthusiasts, amateur ornithologists or just someone who loves birding in secluded riparian areas, New Mexico Cabin Rentals is one of many birding destinations with much to offer!

HORSEBACK RIDING

The best horseback riding vacations usually happen when you can bring your own horse along on vacation. Each of our five centrally situated vacation cabins and opens access to you for exploring unlimited horseback riding. Use the Double E Ranch Trail to begin your Gila horseback trek. From there, the horseback riding is unlimited and you can follow your own path. You and your horse can plan a solo visit or gather your horseback buddies, saddle up and experience the beauty, excitement and adventure of the Gila Forest region together. 

BIKING TRIPS

Biking and cycling adventures in southwest New Mexico are unlimited, exciting and by using New Mexico Cabin Rentals as your home base, you'll find some of the very best year-round biking and cycling in the southwest, the Annual Tour of the Gila Race. Here are just a few mountain and road rides nearby. Area maps are available at the Murray Ryan Visitor Center, 201 N. Hudson in Silver City. More information, bike gear, sales and service are available at the bike shops in Silver City.

Gila National Forest

One of the best benefits of spending your time in one of our cabins or guesthouses at New Mexico Cabin Rentals is our proximity to many of southwest New Mexico's most interesting, unique attractions! In addition to having some of the best year-round weather in every season, New Mexico offers everything from Old West history, delicious food in a variety of restaurant venues, Ancient Native American monuments and sacred sites, uniquely beautiful natural wonders of nature, and the 3 million acre Gila National Forest! In any direction, north, south, east or west, you have interesting places to go, adventurous things to see and do - all within a few hours or day trip drive!

Restaurants, Nightlife and movies

  • Restaurants: If you feel like a dine-out day or an evening out, you have loads of choices and a variety of cuisine in Silver City. Also take advantage of the locally grown fresh (organic) produce and grass fed beef at either the Silver City Food Co-op or Silver City Farmer's Market. 

  • Night Life: There is no lack of night time entertainment, excitement, serious cultural events or maybe even a little bit of funk. 

  • Movie Theaters: Originally built in 1926, the Silco Theater is known for its "off the beaten path" movie venue. Well worth checking out if you are looking for a nigh of dinner, movie and popcorn!


Southwest Wine Tour-Tasting

Between your cabin and Las Cruces there are several wineries including St. Clair Winery - a company with 6 generations of wine making experience. It is located 50 miles west of Deming and has been in operation since 1984. It is New Mexico's largest winery, covering 180 acres of grapes.  

Guided Tour of the LC Ranch

Just 10 minutes from Vacation cabin rental at New Mexico Cabin Rentals in the Village of Gila, you'll find a real piece of Old West History -- the Headquarters of the L C Ranch, the Million Acre Lions and Campbells Ranch! Tours are held on Saturdays and can be arranged by calling Alex Ocheltree, Owner at (575)535-2825.  This Registered New Mexico Cultural Property is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and The National Park Service.  In their publication, "The Cattleman's Empire" the million acre L & C Ranch was "Overshadowing all other ranching operations in the Southwest", and “The L.C. remains as one of the last surviving Great Ranch Houses of the Old West”. 

FISHING

Just 12 miles from us is Bill Evans Lake which has award winning Bass for those anglers and plenty of space and tranquility if you just want to sit and relax and enjoy the temperate climate we have here in Southwest New Mexico.
