Original Ranch Headquarters Built in 1920
Gila, New Mexico, United States 88038
New Mexico Cabin Rentals has just added a master piece of old west history to our list of properties. Built in the very early 1900's and used as the original ranch headquarters "home place", The Old Ranch House has been completely, lovingly refurbished, upgraded and (just slightly) remodeled, while continuing to reflect the charm and character of early ranch living in New Mexico. Including the 16'x24' screened Veranda Porch, you'll have nearly 1400 square feet of living space to call 'home'.
New Mexica Cabin Rentals chose the historic old ranch headquarters as representation of authentic period Territorial style ranch homes. Its high ceilings in the living room/dining/bedrooms enhance your sense of natural light filled spaces, with turn a "turn of the century" atmosphere. Serve up your meals seated at a vintage oak dining table with seating for four. A 1940's era sideboard buffet with hand crochet lace edging provides extra storage as well as a large DVD Library.
An intimate living room area includes vintage wagon wheel sofa and matching rocker as well as a 4 foot tall "cowboy" floor lamp to welcome you home! Ok, he's not John Wayne, but he surely does light up a room! A 60" large flat screened HD TV, dvd player and large dvd library, Wi-Fi internet and voip telephone allow long distance calls at no charge. Cell service is not available, however you have a strong signal at the top of driveway near ranch sign. Please, remember you are visiting a very rural area where ranching, farming and a slower paced life is blissfully still found.
The large master bedroom has a gas fireplace, queen sized bed crowned with a magnificent hand carved headboard, a 1930's double door oak armoire imported from England, vintage, hand painted porcelain table lamps, refinished and well used original wood floors will take you back to a gentler time. Two well used antique oak sewing machines with delicate wood carved trim serve as night tables.
Separated from the living/dining room by curtained, double glass French doors for privacy, bedroom number two is a bit smaller with queen bed, rustic headboard, antique dresser and silvered mirror, private toilet with shower. Hanging on the wall you'll find some of the tools of the Cowboy...hand made leather chaps and silver spurs.
In your master bath, you will enjoy the luxury of a cast iron, claw foot bath tub, a beautifully hand crafted stained glass window, pedestal sink and 1940's hoosier cabinet as the center of focus. You will enjoy an oversized stall shower with a "rain water" shower head. Lots of natural light reflecting off the Italian stone flooring filling the room with soothing shades of beige. The vintage Hoosier cabinet with etched glass doors provides loads of space for toiletries, thick towels and more.
An oversized, leaded glass window placed in front of the kitchen sink offers a panoramic view of horse pastures along with magnificent sunset colors on Turtle Rock. Vintage cabinetry, custom shelving, large refrigerator/freezer, gas range, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker make it easy for you to feel right at home.
The Veranda, comfortable chairs, a vintage repurposed baby buggy side table...a perfect way to begin (and end!) your day.

This Place is Amazing!
This place is amazing - the hosts are gracious, kind, and have set up a special place to unwind! I could totally seeing myself bringing a pile of books a mile high, my hiking boots, some great wine and escaping by here for a month! we feel the slow pace helped us live more life during each of our days here...
We had a wonderful time! Thank you for everything!
It was sincerely our pleasure hosting you and your family over the holiday weekend!
Rustic and Tranquil
Debbie and her family went out of their way to accommodate the needs of our family, including our dog. Loved the quiet and tranquility of this remote setting. Our dog loved his walks around the ranch (and so did we). The ranch house is both rustic and comfortable. Thanks for everything! We had a wonderful stay at the ranch house. Loved the tranquility and beauty of the Double E Ranch. Thank you for accommodating our family's needs.
We Loved It!
Hi Debbie,Carla and I would like to thank you for steering us into the old ranch house for our stay there, and for giving us such a good rate. The house was great, better than expected. Carla wants me to especially thank you for having a comforter for the bed. The bathroom is really nice and Carla enjoyed the tub. The kitchen was perfect; we had everything we needed except ice trays. We really enjoyed the screened porch and simply relaxing and viewing the horses and mountains. The best part of all is that we were able to have our beloved dog Bugsy with us. The road between headquarters and Turtleback was beautiful, and we walked it and explored at least twice everyday. You really have a wonderful property and we are so glad that we were privileged to experience it for a few days.We would love to visit again, although my work schedule will severely limit our ability to do so.Thank you again for this visit.Sincerely,Fritz and Carla
Hi Fritz and Carla, It was our pleasure hosting you both and Bugsy. I sincerely appreciate your willingness to be so flexible and hope we see you all again, one day. Best regards, Debbie
We enjoyed our stay!
We enjoyed our stay in the Ranch house! It was especially nice to be able to see the horses right out the kitchen window and to be able to out and love them. Thanks for making accommodations for us this week.
