Restaurants, Museums, Antique, University, Art and Billy the Kid
While Double E Ranch and New Mexico Cabin Rentals have much in the way of adventure and beauty to offer our guests, Silver City is also a diamond to be discovered and enjoyed. It offers up some of the finest restaurants in the southwest. Old Town Silver City has art galleries, museums book stores, interesting architecture, and antique stores. Oh, and Billy the Kid was born at the corner of Hudson and Broadway.
Ok - it's 32 miles from your cabin door. But, the good news is there's no traffic (unless Tour the Gila Bicycle Race is in town or there's a cow in your way - just honk!), the road is smooth (because there isn't much traffic) and the scenery is quite soothing (you're on the edge of 3 million acres). Try staying in the moment. You're in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment - and the mind-set of mañana! No need to rush. You've got plenty of time. Enjoy your ride! You're headed for a place located on the southwestern edge of the legendary Gila National Forest, an energized downtown with no traffic lights and very few stop signs. Waiting for you is lots of diverse culture, class, funk, art, antiques, museums, yoga, local wine, education, great food and (a plus!) an exciting night life. If you drive the speed limit (and there's no cow in the road), you'll be in Old Town Silver City in 32 minutes. Perfection!
The weather is awesome, no matter what the season is. You're in the Southwest! Today (April 15, 2019) as I write this, the temperature is currently 75 F. in Gila, New Mexico. Silver City, being 1,000 ft higher in altitude, is 68 F. Unless you live in southern California, Arizona or Florida you won't find too many places boasting weather quite as ideal! With more than 300 days of sunshine annually, there's no reason to hang around indoors!
RESTAURANTS: With full kitchens in each of the cabins at New Mexico Cabin Rentals, it's easy to cook for yourself. But, if you feel like a dine-out day or an evening out, you have loads of choices and a variety of cuisine. Take advantage of the locally grown fresh (organic) produce or grass fed beef at either the Silver City Food Co-op or Silver City Farmer's Market.
